One of the themes I see with clients is the pilgrimage their leadership teams make from being a producer to being a leader to being an owner. In short, producers get things done, they make decisions on the run and score touchdowns. Producers make money today. Leaders are responsible to help others get things done and score touchdowns. Communication skills become key and considering how actions will affect the team become crucial. Owners (what I call leaders that think like owners) see the whole field. They think into the future when making decisions. And they put the needs of the business ahead of their own.
Not everyone makes the journey through these growth stages. And if you have a leader that's gotten stuck, it causes problems fast and the rest of the leadership team feels it.
If you've got a leader that's struggling to mature beyond producer or leader, DM me or email me and I can unpack it more with you before it gets worse.
